Prior to any planting, planning and preparation of the rose beds had to be done.

 

At the phase shown on the photo on the left, we were about half way through. In the background, the first of the future inhabitants are already waiting ...

We soon realized that using the shovel would last way too long - and would overstretch our ability (and willingness) for physical labour.

 

So we changed to earth moving machines ...

After the turf had gone, the future beds of the second part of the rose garden were marked by ribbons and the smaller of the Caterpillars completed the work.

 

At that time, the first roses were planted already.
